The "Bürgerfest 650 Years of Grafenau Town" is a unique celebratory event for the 650th anniversary of the granting of town rights in 1376. A distinct citizens' festival of this kind did not yet take place in 2025; the anniversary year was heralded with initial events, concerts, and preparations for the main celebration day in May 2026.
The grand citizens' festival for the 650th town anniversary was a unique event scheduled for May 14, 2026 – exactly 650 years after Emperor Charles IV granted town rights in 1376. In the lead-up in 2025, preparations and the first events of the anniversary year began in Grafenau, accompanying the celebration day with concerts, salt trader festivals, historical exhibitions, and partner city meetings. The Bear City in the Freyung-Grafenau district thus tuned into its 650th birthday.
