Overview

Before 'Brennpunkt Bayern,' the House of Bavarian History presented its last special exhibition at Donaumarkt in 2025. Like all Bavarian State Exhibitions, it focused on a central theme of the Free State's history and attracted a broad audience from all over Bavaria and neighboring regions. The series of Bavarian State Exhibitions has been considered a curatorial gold standard in Southern Germany for decades.

The 2025 predecessor exhibition marked the transition to the thematic axis continued by 'Brennpunkt Bayern' in 2026: a consistent look at Bavaria's political and cultural identity in the 20th and 21st centuries. As one of Bavaria's most visited state museums, the House of Bavarian History consistently expanded its audience in 2025 and reached broad segments of the population through consistently inclusive offerings – tactile stations, multilingual audio guides, Easy Language. The series of Bavarian State Exhibitions has been held annually at various locations in Bavaria since 1980 and regularly attracts six-figure visitor numbers.
