Overview

The 2025 Brechtfestival was the last edition under the previous festival management. As every year, it combined new productions of Brecht's works, international guest performances, and concerts with a strong discourse programme. The festival confirmed its position as the most important Bertolt Brecht platform in Germany and in the birthplace of the poet.

In 2025, the Brechtfestival Augsburg was held under the motto of the previous festival management, concluding a three-year programme cycle. The programme included classic Brecht plays, new works by contemporary authors, and a concert series honouring the musical Brecht (with Kurt Weill, Hanns Eisler, and Paul Dessau) as well as current singer-songwriter positions. Venues included the Staatstheater Augsburg, the Brecht House, and various independent stages in the city centre. The transition to the new management of Sahar Rahimi and Mark Schröppel took place at the end of the season.
