Blood Ride 2025

The 2025 Weingarten Blood Friday took place on Friday, May 30, 2025 — traditionally on the Friday after Ascension Day. In 2025, around 1,800 riders in 95 riding groups once again processed through the town and surrounding fields of Oberschwaben, accompanied by tens of thousands of pilgrims along the route.

After the multi-hour procession, the Holy Blood relic was returned to the Basilica, where the festive Pontifical Mass was celebrated. The custom has been documented in Weingarten since 1529 and continues an unbroken tradition, only suspended during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. The pilgrimage to the Holy Blood relic itself dates back to the 12th century.
