Overview

In 2025, the Biike bonfires also burned on February 21st in all five Amrum villages. The bonfire in Nebel in the island's center once again attracted many visitors, who then enjoyed kale and Pinkel sausage in the island's inns.

On the evening of February 21st, 2025, locals and guests gathered at the Biikeplatz Nebel to experience the annual winter celebration. The fire was lit around 6 PM, with Frisian speeches and songs accompanying the ceremony. Afterwards, guests went to the Amrum inns, where the traditional kale dinner was served.

UNESCO declared the Biikebrennen intangible cultural heritage in 2014 — a recognition that is brought to life anew every February evening on Amrum. In 2026, the Biike in Nebel will burn on February 21st.
