Overview

The 2025 Berlin Bach Days took place from March 12 to 23 and were dedicated to the 275th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach's death. Program items included: a lecture on Bach's life on March 12, short organ recitals, an organ concert with Wolfgang Zerer on March 20, the St. Mark Passion BWV 247 on March 22 in a historically informed version, and a concluding church service on March 23 with works by the Bach family. Organizer: St. Marienkirche-Friedrichswerder.

The 2025 Bach Days were held under the sign of Bach anniversary year — 275 years after Bach's death on July 28, 1750. Over twelve days, a dense program of lectures, organ recitals, concerts, and church services was spread out. The highlight was the performance of the St. Mark Passion BWV 247 on March 22, a reconstructed Passion based on surviving Bach materials. Soloists, vocal ensembles, and baroque orchestras worked together under Marie-Louise Schneider. The closing event on March 23 was dedicated to the extended Bach family and laid the foundation for the following edition in 2026 with the St. Matthew Passion BWV 244 on March 29.
