Overview
The 75th Berlinale in 2025 marked the anniversary edition of the festival and also the first under the direction of new Festival Director Tricia Tuttle. In February 2025, around 340,000 audience tickets were sold over eleven festival days.
The competition featured 19 films vying for the Golden Bear, alongside the usual variety of sections: Encounters, Perspektive Deutsches Kino, Generation, Forum, Panorama, Retrospective, Berlinale Special. The European Film Market ran concurrently as usual, reinforcing its position as one of the three most important international film markets.
As in previous years, the main venues were the Berlinale Palast at Potsdamer Platz, CinemaxX, Cubix Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstadt-Palast, HKW, and the Akademie der Künste — spread across the city and connected by public transport.
