Overview
The 2025 edition continued the long-standing tradition of the Berlin Book Festival. Organized by the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels – Landesverband Berlin-Brandenburg e.V., the festival gathered around 100 publishing and bookselling stands on Bebelplatz. Readings by prominent authors, young voices, and 'Cluster Talks' complemented the stage program.
As in previous years, the symbolic significance of the festival proved potent: on the square where books were publicly burned in 1933, the Berlin book scene celebrates the German and international publishing landscape for two days. The memorial 'Sunken Library' (Micha Ullman, 1995) remains visible throughout the festival and becomes part of the thematic reflection on books, democracy, and memory.
