Festival Season 2025
The 2025 Bayreuth Festival opened on July 25th with the acclaimed new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, musical direction Daniele Gatti, direction Matthias Davids. The programme included the Wagnerian main works Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Parsifal, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung, Lohengrin, and Tristan und Isolde.
Highlights
Christian Thielemann, music director of the festival from 2015 to 2020, conducted Lohengrin. The Ring of the Nibelung, directed by Valentin Schwarz and musically directed by Simone Young, was performed for the last time in 2025 in two complete cycles (Cycle 1 from July 26th, Cycle 2 from August 15th), before the new production took over in 2026.
