Overview

The sixth edition of Bayreuth Baroque once again attracted an international audience to the UNESCO World Heritage Margravial Opera House in September 2025. A lavishly staged Baroque opera, concerts in Bayreuth's historic churches, and gala dinners characterized the ten-day festival.

The 2025 edition confirmed the young festival's reputation as one of the most important destinations for Baroque opera in Europe. Artistic director Max Emanuel Cencic once again presented a rediscovered Baroque opera in the magnificent 1748 Margravial theatre hall and complemented the programme with concerts at other historical venues in the former Margravial residence city.

International stars of the early music scene met the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra under Markellos Chryssicos. As in previous years, performances in the Opera House were largely sold out months before the festival began.
