Overview

The 2025 Gelsenkirchen City Farmers' Market once again combined the classic harvest market with the Dutch Market on Heinrich-König-Platz and a Sunday shopping event in the city center. Around 70 regional stalls and 45 Dutch vendors attracted thousands of visitors from the Ruhr area on a sunny autumn weekend.

In 2025, the concept of a Farmers' Market, Dutch Market, and Sunday shopping proved successful again. The Gelsenkirchen City Business Association enjoyed high attendance — largely due to the appeal of the Dutch market with its licorice, cheese, and flower bulb stalls.

The mix of classic harvest produce, Dutch specialties, and parallel retail makes the market a fixed date in the autumn calendar of the northern Ruhr area — and underscores the function of Gelsenkirchen's city center as a supply and experience hub for a broad regional environment.
