Overview

In 2025, too, the twelve traditional Bamberg nurseries opened their gates for one Sunday — plant sales, advice from master gardeners, and a family program in the UNESCO World Heritage quarters. As in previous years, over 12,000 visitors came to Bamberg's Gärtnerstadt.

The Day of the Open Nurseries 2025 continued the tradition maintained since 2011: between 10 AM and 5 PM, the twelve participating commercial nurseries opened their courtyards for the sale of seedlings (old tomato varieties, Bamberg specialties, spring bloomers), advice from master gardeners, family activities (flower arranging, planting salad bowls, bouncy castles), and refreshments with vegetarian delicacies and Franconian beers.

As in previous years, the event attracted over 12,000 people from Bamberg and all over Southern Germany to the Gärtnerstadt — one of the most popular spring events in Franconia. The free e-shuttle connected the quarters for people with limited mobility, as usual.
