Autumn Steam 2025 β€” A Look Back

The Autumn Steam 2025 weekend marked the end of the 2025 operating season at the Historic Engine Shed Wittenberge. As every year in October, Dampflokfreunde Salzwedel e.V. brought their rail vehicles to life one last time before winter quarters – a tradition that has drawn railway enthusiasts from all over Northern Germany to the Prignitz town for decades.

The focus was on the locomotive parades on the historic turntable, the cab rides, and the handcar rides on the works tracks. The handcar program was particularly popular with families – an accessible way to experience the thrill of the rails firsthand.

The engine shed is one of the few completely preserved roundhouse engine sheds in Germany and is one of the most important sights in the Prignitz region.
