Overview

The Augsburger Frühjahrsplärrer 2025, as usual, drew several hundred thousand visitors to the Kleine Exerzierplatz in Pfersee. For two weeks, beer tents from Binswanger and Schaller, rides, and show booths characterized the festival grounds. Mayor Eva Weber opened the event on Easter Sunday with the traditional keg tapping ceremony in the Binswanger beer tent — marking the season opener for Southern German folk festivals.

In 2025, the Frühjahrsplärrer again followed its proven format: keg tapping on Easter Sunday, Family Days on Wednesdays, spectacular fireworks on Friday evenings, and continuous operation of the beer tents over the two weeks. Augsburg residents celebrated their Plärrer as Swabia's most important folk festival, just like every year.

With up to 1.2 million visitors (spring and autumn combined), the Plärrer is among the major Southern German folk festivals — alongside Oktoberfest, Cannstatter Wasen, and Nürnberger Volksfest. For the city of Augsburg, it is an economic and cultural highlight of the year.
