Season finale at the open-air museum with over 50 artisans from all over Germany and Christmas-decorated heath farms
The Arts and Crafts Market at Museumsdorf Hösseringen marks the open-air museum's season finale and simultaneously ushers in the upcoming pre-Christmas season. When over 50 artisans from all over Germany present their works in the historic heath farms on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, an atmosphere arises that is particularly precious in November: the last daylight of the season, the first hints of Advent spirit, wood fires, mulled wine, and the scent of roasted almonds.
The outstanding feature of the market is the quality and diversity of the artisans. Selected artists travel from all over Germany to present their works in the historic farmsteads. The spectrum ranges from jewelry (silver, gold, alternative materials) to ceramics (tableware, sculptures, garden ceramics), photographs, handmade soaps, felted and fulled wool products, hand-woven textiles and scarves, to silk clothing and fashion design. Each stand is a small world of its own.
In detail, visitors will find:
What's special about the Hösseringen market: the artisans don't present in market stalls, but in the historic buildings of the Museumsdorf. The old farmhouses, bakehouses, mills, and smithies become sales rooms. Wooden beams, clay walls, thatched roofs, and fireplaces create an atmosphere that no modern market stand can offer. Walking from one farmstead to another, you don't just wander through a market, but also experience the museum.
For the market, the buildings are decorated for Christmas: fir branches, candles, fairy lights, traditional ornaments. The museum transforms into a pre-Christmas scene that offers inspiration for your own Advent decorations. Those who buy gifts here also take home the atmosphere of the Advent season.
Catering is offered in the museum café and at mobile stands: mulled wine, hot apple punch, coffee, cake, bratwurst, potato pancakes, heath sheep specialties. Refreshments are an essential part of visiting the market — especially when it gets cool outside.
The date and concept are confirmed via museumsdorf-hoesseringen.de, lueneburger-heide.de, and schoene-heide.de. The Arts and Crafts Market is the museum's established season finale event.
The exhibitor list will be published by the museum via museumsdorf-hoesseringen.de in late summer/early autumn.
