Overview

The 2025 Arberkirchweih took place on Sunday, August 24, on the summit of the Großer Arber. As every year, the pilgrimage led from the Arberebene mountain rescue hut to the Arber Chapel, where the solemn mountain service was celebrated at 10:30 AM. Afterwards, numerous pilgrims, traditional costume wearers, and day-trippers celebrated in the two mountain huts, Eisensteiner Hütte and Arberschutzhaus.

The 2025 edition of the Arberkirchweih seamlessly continued the decades-long tradition. In summer weather, numerous pilgrims from the entire Bavarian Forest and neighboring Bohemia hiked up to the Arber Chapel. The mountain service was celebrated in front of the chapel, accompanied musically by a brass band and a male choir from the Lamer Winkel.

After the service, the festival congregation retreated to the mountain huts. There, traditional dances, folk songs, and regional delicacies ensured a long, convivial gathering that lasted into the late afternoon.

Free admission. Gondola lift and catering in the mountain huts are subject to charge.
