Overview
The 2025 Appeltatenkirmes took place as tradition dictates in September at the Werdener Feintuchwerke grounds. Thousands of visitors came for four days of carousels, Appeltaten, and autumnal Kirmes atmosphere — Essen's oldest Kirmes kept the 800-year tradition alive.
The 2025 Appeltatenkirmes followed its usual format: four days of folk festival in Werden, a classic Kirmes programme with carousels, rides, and food stalls, and of course the namesake Appeltaten as a culinary must-try. The connection to centuries of tradition and the Liudger Abbey makes the Kirmes a unique combination of folk festival and religious-cultural tradition.
