Overview

In 2025, over 80 festively decorated stalls around St. Anne's Church transformed the mining town of Annaberg-Buchholz into one of Saxony's most traditional Christmas market destinations. The market pyramid, Christmas tree, Ore Mountains handicrafts, Advent concerts, and nativity scene exhibition formed the permanent pillars — as has been the tradition for generations in this UNESCO World Heritage city.

Annaberg Christmas Market — The Tradition

Annaberg-Buchholz cherishes its Christmas traditions with particular dedication. The mining town in the Ore Mountains is home to one of Germany's densest Christmas and handicraft traditions. In 2025, the market attracted thousands of visitors from the Ore Mountains, Saxony, Bavaria, and the Czech Republic. With the 2026 market (November 27 to December 23), the city continues this tradition.
