The premiere of Altstadtfunkeln 2025, on November 14 and 15, united Candle Light Shopping and Kaufbeuren leuchtet under one brand for the first time. Two evenings with video mappings on the historic old town facades, a candle labyrinth with 1,000 lights at Obstmarkt, fire and LED shows by Artistica Anam Cara at Hafenmarkt, street food along Kaiser-Max-Straße, as well as brass and choir music in the Holy Trinity Church.

With Altstadtfunkeln 2025, Kaufbeuren took the step to place two long-standing traditions — Candle Light Shopping with over 20 years of history and the more recent light art format Kaufbeuren leuchtet — under a common umbrella brand. The premiere on November 14 and 15, 2025, combined light art, gastronomy, and retail in a confined space.

Highlights included the candle labyrinth at Obstmarkt, the fire and LED performances by Artistica Anam Cara at Hafenmarkt, and musical contributions in the Holy Trinity Church. Light artists showcased video mappings on the historic facades; street food stalls lined Kaiser-Max-Straße, and retailers stayed open until 10 PM on Friday and 8 PM on Saturday.
