The 2025 edition of the Sunset Series Hamburg (before the 2026 renaming to Altra Sunset Series) took place on a Wednesday in July 2025 in Wilhelmsburger Inselpark – with the established format: 7:00 PM start, 5 km circuit, individual and relay race, finish in twilight. Organizer: BMS Die Laufgesellschaft mbH.

The 2025 edition continued the established Sunset Series format. Hundreds of Hamburg's amateur runners completed the 5, 10, and 15 km distances, and teams registered for the relay segment. With its late start, the Sunset Series is one of the summer events that can be managed even after a workday in Hamburg's offices – a key reason for its popularity.

The renaming to "Altra Sunset Series" in 2026 reflects a new main sponsorship agreement with the US running shoe manufacturer Altra, but does not change the format or course layout. With its events in several major German cities, the Sunset Series is one of the established second-tier running series – not as large as the city marathons, but with a high repeat participation rate among athletes in the state of Hamburg and beyond.
