Overview

The Mittenwald Almabtrieb 2025 once again attracted thousands of visitors to the market town in September. The festively decorated cattle herds returned from the alpine pastures of the Karwendel, and the procession wound through the Lüftlmalerei old town to the festival meadow at Riedboden. This was followed by the Almfest with a brass band, Bavarian folk music, delicacy stalls, and draft beer. The accompanying program included a goat drive and farmers' markets in the Alpenwelt Karwendel region.

Mittenwald 2025

As every year in September, the traditional Almabtrieb was celebrated in Mittenwald in 2025. The festively decorated cattle herds returned from the summer pastures in the Karwendel Mountains, adorned with bells and artfully wound ribbon wreaths. The procession passed through the famous Lüftlmalerei old town to the festival meadow at Riedboden, where the Almfest with a brass band and delicacies marked the highlight.

The Alpine Year

The 2025 alpine year went well overall, allowing most animals to return festively decorated. Herdsmen and women from the Karwendel celebrated their return to the valley after about 100 days on the high pastures. Accompanying events such as the goat drive (early September) and the cattle drives in the neighboring towns of Krün and Wallgau made the Mittenwald autumn cattle drive season 2025 a multi-week traditional festival in the Alpenwelt Karwendel.
