African art and culture festival at Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen with stage acts, animal walk-acts, and live music
Serengeti-Park Hodenhagen, one of Europe's largest safari and amusement parks, integrates several themed weekends into its regular program each summer. The African Arts Festival is one of the highlights of this series, revisiting the park's African theme in a new, culturally enriched way. For two days, music, dance, art, and walk-acts take center stage – always in connection with the park's animals and landscape.
Several stages spread across the park provide the setting for concerts, drum workshops, African singing ensembles, and dance performances. Live musicians from various African regions and the Afro-German scene are regular guests. The exact artists for 2026 will be communicated by Serengeti-Park in good time before the event.
A special feature of the festival is the walk-acts, where artists in African-inspired costumes parade through the park and encounter animals at various stations – always under the supervision of animal keepers. Comedy groups, stilt walkers, and musicians with traditional instruments accompany visitors along the paths.
An extensive children's program complements the festival. Drum circles, face painting, creative workshops on African fabrics and patterns, and stories from the African cultural area are on the agenda. The regular animal park with its free-roaming animals is also open during the festival.
On the occasion of the festival, opening hours are extended. The park is open until 8 PM on Saturday and until 7 PM on Sunday. This allows visitors to experience the festival program and the regular park experience – safari, jungle safari, petting zoo, rides – all in one day.
The African Arts Festival is designed as a themed weekend and appeals to families, regular park visitors, and those interested in culture. The entire park offering remains open during the festival – Safari, Jungle Safari, Petting Zoo, Rides.
