Overview

The 36th edition of the Africa Festival Würzburg took place in 2025 — the last festival at the traditional location on the Main riverbanks before the new setup at the CCW and in the Town Hall's Ehrenhof begins in 2026. Stages featuring music from West, Central, and East Africa, the large bazaar, the culinary journey across the continent, and family workshops once again confirmed its reputation as Europe's largest and oldest festival of African music and culture.

The 36th edition in 2025 marked the last festival in the traditional setup along the Main riverbanks, before the concept moved to the Congress Centrum Würzburg and the Town Hall's Ehrenhof in 2026. Four days of music, culinary delights, fashion, and arts and crafts from Africa shaped Würzburg's city center in late May 2025.

As every year since 1989, around 50,000 visitors met musicians from Africa and the Caribbean, international street food vendors, and a wide range of workshops and performances. The bazaar featuring African arts and crafts remained a highlight of the festival — freely accessible and culturally diverse.
