Overview
In 2025, the established summer formats Stadtglühen and SeptemberSpecial shaped Aachen's cultural programme. These series will be suspended in 2026 in favour of the major WM Special for the FEI World Equestrian Games – the city of Aachen is concentrating resources, personnel, and artist bookings on the unique World Championship year. The WM Special 2026 is therefore the biggest city festival in Aachen's city centre in years.
In 2025, Stadtglühen and SeptemberSpecial offered several weeks of Aachen's cultural life in the city centre. These formats will be suspended in 2026 in favour of the unique WM Special for the World Equestrian Games. The regular summer formats are scheduled to return in 2027 – however, the WM summer of 2026 will be the big city festival with which the city of Aachen celebrates the World Championship at Soers in the city centre.
