Edition 2025 — 40 Years Saarlouis–Eisenhüttenstadt
In 2025, both partner cities focused on preparing for the 40th anniversary. The city of Eisenhüttenstadt, Saarlouis, and their respective museums exchanged materials, researched sources, and coordinated the program for the special exhibition in May 2026.
On the Road to the Anniversary
The preparation for the 40th anniversary required intensive research and selection work: forty years of correspondence, photographs, school exchanges, sports trips, and political gestures had to be reviewed and curated. The city archives in Eisenhüttenstadt and Saarlouis were responsible for this work.
A Rare Partnership
The German-German city partnership between a medium-sized Saarland town and a Brandenburg planned city is a historical unique – which is precisely why the 40th anniversary seemed like a suitable occasion to honor it publicly.
