Overview

The 2025 edition of the 24h Regatta on the Außenalster took place as usual on the first weekend of August – 24 hours non-stop, with around 30 dinghies and small keelboats, organized by the Akademischer Segler-Verein Hamburg. Regatta base at the Uni jetty, welcome barbecue on Friday evening. Yardstick handicap evaluation on Sunday.

The 2025 edition once again confirmed the close link between academic sailing, Hamburg's club structure, and the Akademischer Segler-Verein as the organizer. The weather in August 2025 was sufficiently stable for 24 hours of sailing, and the number of participants was within the usual range.

The 24h Regatta is one of Hamburg's relatively quiet but fascinating summer events: no large stage performances, no spectator stands, but a spectacular sight for anyone strolling along the Alster circular path. It is thus a typical representative of Hanseatic summer culture in the state of Hamburg – sportingly ambitious, visually impressive, and atmospherically unpretentious.
