Overview

In 2025, the FFW Buchdorf was entirely focused on preparing for the 150th founding festival. The highlight was the traditional request for patronage on July 19th, 2025, in Bergstetten (city of Kaisheim), where the Buchdorf members, accompanied by a music band and festival ladies, playfully asked the FFW Bergstetten to be the patron for the 2026 anniversary — and they received it.

The request for patronage (Patenbitten) is a central custom for Bavarian fire brigade anniversaries. The celebrating brigade marches solemnly to the neighboring town and presents its request to the comrades — often humorously, with rhymes, songs, and small competitions. Whoever convinces them wins the honorary patronage for the parade.

On July 19th, 2025, the FFW Buchdorf marched into Bergstetten. Mayor Walter Grob (Buchdorf) and Mayor Martin Scharr (Kaisheim) were present, as were representatives of the Donau-Ries district fire inspection. The program included, in addition to the negotiations, face painting for children, a bouncy castle, catering, and a social evening. In the end, Bergstetten officially agreed — the path to the grand festival weekend in 2026 was clear.

In addition, the usual club activities took place in 2025: training sessions, fire safety week, participation in festivals of other brigades in the Donau-Ries district.
