Edition 2025 — 125 Years Schwarzatalbahn
Already in 2025, Thüringer Bergbahn organized a preparatory line festival on the Schwarzatalbahn — as a prelude to the anniversary year 2026. The line between Rottenbach and Katzhütte was turned into a festival mile on an August Sunday in 2025 with station festivals and a special timetable.
Schwarzatalbahn Line Festival 2025 — Retrospective
The 2025 line festival served as a precursor to the grand anniversary in 2026. As a nod to tradition, smaller station festivals were organized at several stations along the Schwarzatalbahn. This allowed Thüringer Bergbahn to introduce the region to the upcoming major anniversary festival in 2026 and to test the concept of "distributed line festivals" — which will take place in full scale in 2026.
